TRAINING SET-UP

Typical Training Procedure

Each of the participants has been assigned to one of the four categories

Therefore the participants trained the same five mini-games, everyday, for 50 days. The participant would start the iPad app, log in with an assigned code name and start the session. He is welcomed by Thomas, the hotellier, and gets assigned his first mini-game. Since all of the test persons must spend the same amount of time in the transition phase between the games, a tracking shot is leading the player from the hotel lobby through the hallway to the respective hotel room with the mini-game.

There he is asked by an avatar to help him out by performing a specific task. During the mini-games the player receives a motivational feedback from the avatar; when it is ended the feedback consists of the total training score for that mini-game, followed by a more detailed feedback and an overview over the training course so far. The participant then is lead back to the hotel lobby where Thomas, the hotel owner, is sending him off again to the second mini-game of that specific single- or multi-domain training. This procedure continues until all of the five training games have been completed, and Thomas bids the participant farewell for the day. The same procedure took place every day for the testing period.
